About us
The Saffron Players were re-formed in 1980 and currently put on two productions per year - a pantomime in January and a play in June. As well as putting on shows the society holds trips to both the professional and local amateur theatre and organises regular social events.
Our annual pantomime has become renowned for its slick production, stunning sets and costumes, and for the unusual subjects. We aim to provide high quality entertainment to all age groups, remembering especially that for many children the pantomime is their first taste of live theatre and could encourage a lifetime enthusiasm for the performing arts.
The group is run by a committee which is elected at the AGM each May and currently has 26 members - subscriptions are also decided at the AGM and are presently £10 per year for adults and £5 per year for students.
Our productions take place in the Town Hall, which is situated in the Market Place in Saffron Walden. Rehearsals are normally held on a Tuesday evening, also in the Town Hall.
